Katherine Heigl has opened herself about her experience of being born into an environment that was a "white bubble" and how the realization has affected how she parents her adopted multiracial children. In an interview, she said in the past that with regards to skin color there is no difference. But after speaking to her sister, who was adopted in South Korea she realized just the way society views people of different races. "I wanted to know Meg how she was treated differently when she went out with us parents than those who went out alone. Meg responded "Oh I do, each and every time!" Heigl admitted to parents, "That made me realise how foolish I was." Heigl said she got frustrated and thought it was important to focus her anger towards helping her adopted daughters. Heigl's husband Josh Kelley and their son Joshua Bishop Kelley Jr., 4, have been married for 13 years. In 2009, they welcomed Nancy Leigh (12), a daughter from South Korea, and Adalaide (8, a black child) in 2012.
